In recognition of the 25th anniversary of the school’s first graduation – May 18, 1985 – Tuesday, May 18, 2010 is “LSMSA Day” at the state capitol. We anticipate that the proclamation will be read in the House chamber between 2:00 and 2:30 and in the Senate chamber between 3:00 and 3:30. Members of the school’s first class who can attend should e-mail Dr. Widhalm so that special mention can be made of their pioneering work 25 years ago and their continuing contributions to Louisiana and the nation. This will be a wonderful opportunity for a positive light to shine on the many important outcomes the state has received from its investment in LSMSA.
If you are not able to be at the Capitol, please use this occasion to send a note or e-mail of thanks to your legislators and the governor. Out of state alumni are encouraged to participate, and can contact the legislator currently serving their parents, or old address. Use this website, http://www.legis.state.la.us/, and the top menu bar “Legislators” to help identify and contact legislators. The Governor’s official e-mail contact is at http://www.gov.la.gov/index.cfm?md=form&tmp=email_governor.
A charter bus will bring available current students and faculty/staff, so the mix of students, parents, faculty, and alumni should make Tuesday a day when the Louisiana State Capitol Soars with the Eagles.
